About Us
The Connected Neighbourhoods Forum (CNF), a DC10plus initiative, is a new forum for local goverment policy makers, the private sector, voluntary and academic stakeholders to discuss and produce strategies, ideas, solutions and products which support the notion of connecting neighbourhoods using digital technologies.
The CNF’s aim is to provide a means by which “neighbourhood connectivity” can be better matched to the needs of the community. Linking industry with policy makers, the CNF will be at the forefront in the development and direction of the UK's telecommunications infrastructure and will attempt to direct the development of new technologies and products around the needs of the citizen.
The forums remit is two fold:
- To provide an open knowledge exchange where practitioners and industry alike can share specialist knowledge, ideas, advice and for them to collaborate with each other, essentially establishing a “community of practice"
- To enable the widescale development of a digital framework which will then be used as a basis for developing Digital Blueprints for a region or place.
The CNF is a new channel for collaboration and information and knowledge exchange surrounding the short term tactical deployment of communications infrastructure within both urban and rural neighbourhoods. Importantly, it provides the much needed impetus for the development of a connectivity framework for a region or place.
